Writing retreats in Italy

DUE TO COVID-19, 2022 MELETE RETREATS WILL BE VIRTUAL

2022 MODUS OPERANDI

Melete Retreats is proud to offer week-long immersive learning experiences taught by distinguished Harvard faculty and acclaimed authors, playwrights, screenwriters and TV writers. It all takes place at the historic Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta estate in Piedmont, Italy. At tutorials, manuscript workshops, one-on-one conferences and readings, attendees draw inspiration from teachers and peers. Weather permitting, events are held al fresco.

The estate is nestled in the rolling Monferrato hills of the province of Asti. The Marquisate of Incisa lordship dates back to 984 A.D., remaining intact through a turbulent history involving a Holy Roman Emperor-cum-poet and a star-studded cast of rebel barons feuding over fiefs. Today, the estate is an oasis of calm and the ideal writer getaway.

The namesake of our retreats, the ancient muse Melete, means “practice” or “occasion.” Join us, and we will nurture your creativity as you deepen your process and build community.
